![]() ![]() The skins are pretty much Karen, a decent looking afroamerican and asian, monsters and nonhumans, old lady, lady on drugs, and generic child(with lipstick and makeup WTF?! XD). I wish there were more options with the character's face customization though. Another character I thought up which is a walking armor made of solar energy was done pretty fast with the contemporary tech pieces, a nice looking helmet for head and the crystalline skin for the bits of skin that can be seen and there are a lot of armors in the game to make it look crazier and more badass. Over the top crazy is easy to make though. X,Dĭefinitely what I noticed is not only the character creation is barebones they seem to have went soooo much out of their way to prevent you from making characters too much resembling iconics that it can be a real struggle to make a simplistic down to earth design because many on paper basic pieces that are not skintight suits would let you make some iconic character because most DC characters are very basic. The latter would be potentially highly addicting for me considering how much I grinded for transmog pieces in WoW back in the day. So my question is: Is this all there is to the character customization in DCUO or most of the actual character customization comes when you collect outfit pieces during gameplay? My other idea was a character wearing armor but there are no armor in DCUO's character creation despite the number of helmets for some reason. ![]() who looks close to 30 in anime bloomers because there are only normal pants, leotard bottom halves, and bodysuit pants. I ended up making a discount Supergirl look. The pieces are either a few sets of everyday clothing, a shitty Wonder Woman but lame onepiece, or the same bodysuit BUT with slightly different patterns. I was wondering for a while why I got lost in the limitless possibilities of CoH while I straight up STRUGGLE to make something not shitty Tumblr(or I guess Twitter now since Tumblr died) OC looking character then realized that there are no actual choices. only to struggle for hours again to make something decent looking!!! I gave up on making your average friendly neighborhood small time heroine that gets cats off trees and beats up the local street gang that keeps granny Mary up at night so went with a more SUPERhero style the character creation seems to try pushing me towards. then the game bugged out, the intro played again which broke the character creation and I lost all the progress. I spent like two hours in DCUO's character creation trying to un-Karenify the model(seriously why is it so hard to make a youtful character?), then trying make a similarly down to earth outfit but ended up with a shitty cosplay of a most basic costume. The issue became that I was trying to make something similar to my CoH character which was a simplistic friendly neighborhood heroine in an intuitive and pretty classic outfit which is easy to hide under clothing yet has a feel of unmistakeable superhero costume, being a t-shirt with an emblem, shorts, short cape, sneakers, simple mask, a pair of gloves fitting a fistfighter theme, long blonde hair. Well anyway limited face customization is something I'm used to and managed to find a decent face and hairstyle. My main gripe with DCUO's character creation aside the difficulty of not making a Karen- seriously there's only like four useable faces, the rest are monsters, mutants and furries, then the hairstlyes are mostly radiating either high concentration of Karen energy or look like rebellious youth from a sci-fi trying to depict the fashion of the future. would our characters have been too Wonder Woman or Superman-like in DC's eyes is we could just make characters who are plainly super-strong and durable? Eh anyway. As I heard DCUO was basically the MMOARPG, before it was cool one of the first in fact so no wonder.ĭCUO's character creation was a letdown though for powers the movement type and the "weapons" is a great way to set the character's themes, but the mandatory elemental power is pretty meh. The gameplay is the classic tab targeting MMO combat system though. not only a crapton of pieces are available to really handmade your hero you can even set the colors of your abilities' special effects to fit your character's theme. I started with trying out CoH's character creation and a bit of gameplay then moved on to DCUO.ĬoH's character creation is INSANE. After a random YouTube recommendation clickbaited me to a League of Maidens video I got an itch for superhero things again and this time got a mood of really feeling like trying out superhero games.Ĭity of Heroes and DCUO was the most promising of the few titles I found. ![]()
